De Temps en Temps

To celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, physicist Yasmine Amhis and the DoniSSi string quartet invite you to explore the mysteries of time in all its aspects.

De temps en temps titre

On February 11th at 20.00, CERN's Science Gateway invites you to discover De Temps en Temps, an artistic and scientific creation that explores the perception of time in physics and music. This event will feature the female quartet DoniSSi and live interventions from Yasmine Amhis, Scientific Coordinator of the LHCb experiment at CERN, delving into topics such as quantum mechanics.

How is time measured? How is time organised in music? In what current experiments is time an essential parameter in explaining observed phenomena? These are just a few of the questions this talk seeks to answer.

The performance will also honour the International Day of Women and Girls in Science by inspiring the next generation of scientists, including through opening remarks by Enrica Porcari, Head of Information Technology at CERN.

Musical pieces performed:
Dmitri Shostakovich, String Quartet No.8
Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn, Quartet in F minor op.80
Robert Schumann, Quartet op.41 n°1
Maurice Ravel, String Quartet
