Public events season 2025
Quantum!
The United Nations declared 2025 the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology in recognition of the importance and potential of quantum technologies to accelerate progress towards achieving a more sustainable and equitable world. Quantum has therefore been chosen as the central theme for the 2025 season, highlighting CERN’s contribution to quantum theory and to the development of a new generation of quantum technologies for fundamental research and beyond.
For the 2025 season of public events, the audience, through our content, will have the opportunity to learn about these strange effects at the sub atomical scale, and appreciate how fundamental research can offer us opportunities to not only further understand nature’s beauty, but also foster societal impact through its technological implementations.
The Quantum! season is also a tribute to the people dedicating themselves towards pushing the boundaries of knowledge further through exploration and discovery, whether they are particle physicists, engineers, technicians, students, artists or anybody fueled by the thirst of science and innovation.
To convey this fascinating topic to our audience, the season offers links to art and popular culture. Indeed, the word “quantum” is prevalent in popular culture; it grabs the attention and creates a sense of mystery, arousing curiosity. Events such as “Super Quantum!”, offering a link with the world of superheros, are an opportunity for CERN to demystify this topic, showing its fascinating effects in exciting and accessible ways.
CERN’s public events have the support of the CERN & Society Foundation.
